FIRST THOUSAND DAYS
FEEDING AND NUTRITION:
COMITANS means ‘accompanying’, ‘going with’ and the name “Comitans Foundation” hence reflects both our philosophy as well as our approach to work.
The Foundation intends to create opportunities for different realities (institutions, companies or other nonprofits) to meet around a common theme in order to foster exchange of knowledge and collaboration on topics of common interest. The resulting network of competences and experiences provides the necessary foundation on which to pursue and uphold the Common Good and the protection of the human being.
“Values in motion” is the concept that best represents Comitans’ commitment to accompanying all partners involved in the Foundation’s work, welcoming their values which generate new impulses over time
THE PROJECT ‘FIRST 1000 DAYS’
The first 1000 days of life are of crucial importance to a child’s development
since they represent a fundamental phase during which nutrition has a great impact both on the present as well as on the future health. Hence the need to promote sustainable agro-food systems, the benefits of which generate conditions for healthy food and environment for all.
Promoting an integrated and interdisciplinary approach on the topic of food and nutrition impacts both the quality of the food produced and distributed, as well as the knowledge of what we bring to our tables as conscious consumers.
In order to promote a more sustainable agri-food system and to ensure food security for all, it is necessary to support a change in the food production and distribution and to encourage the dissemination of knowledge about what we should put on our tables as conscious consumers.
